WORKING/RESEARH FOCUS:
I graduated at Faculty of Medicine, University of Belgrade, Serbia at 2002. I completed my training in pediatrics at 2012 at University Children’s Hospital in Belgrade. Since 2004, I have been involved in practice and research of various hematological and oncological diseases in children, with the focus on Gaucher disease. This research led to MSc thesis in the field of Gaucher disease in 2010, as well as PhD thesis titled “Influence of Clonal B Cell Proliferation and Cytokine Gene Polymorphisms on Disease Severity and Occurence of Monoclonal Gammopathy in Patients with Gaucher Disease” in 2018. Besides Gaucher disease, my research includes leukemias and lymphomas in children as well as hemostatic abnormalities including hemophilia. Additionally, I have been involved in diagnostics and treatment of common and rare diseases in the field of pediatric hematology and oncology including solid tumors of childhood as well as benign hematological disorders.
WHAT IS IWGGD FOR ME?
For me, IWGGD is an opportunity for networking and sharing clinical and research results among colleagues and collaborators in order to advance knowledge and accessibility of the scientific facts as well as clinical experiences and guidelines related to Gaucher disease. The ultimate goal of this would translate to promoting everyday care of the patients affected with Gaucher disease as well as raising awareness about this rare lysosomal disease.
