WORKING/RESEARH FOCUS:
Ida Vanessa Doederlein Schwartz, MD, PhD is a Full Professor in the Department of Genetics at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), where she also teaches in the graduate programs in Genetics and Medical Sciences. She is a CNPq 1B Researcher and currently serves as President of the Brazilian Society of Medical Genetics and Genomics.
Her work focuses on inborn errors of metabolism, rare diseases, and health technology assessment in clinical genetics. She coordinates the National Institute for Rare Diseases (InRaras), leads the research group “Health Technology Assessment for Clinical Genetics,” and serves as a visiting professor at the University of Tours, France, through the Le Studium Program (2025–2028). She also coordinates the Inborn Errors of Metabolism outpatient clinics at the Medical Genetics Service of HCPA, which she headed from 2020 to 2024.
