Recommended transfer options from Trieste Airport to the city/venue (shuttle, train, taxi, etc.)

  • Train: From the airport railway station, regional trains (Trenitalia) depart hourly to Trieste Centrale Station, taking approx. 30 minutes.

  • Bus: Local bus line runs from outside the terminal to Trieste city centre, taking about 50–60 minutes.

  • Taxi / Private Transfer: Pre-booked private car services are available for door-to-door convenience. Fixed-rate or premium vehicles may cost more.

Alternative airports (e.g., Venice Marco Polo, Treviso, Ljubljana) and approximate travel times

Venice Marco Polo Airport (VCE)

  • Bus direct to Trieste: approx. 1 h 50 m

  • Train option: about 2 h 0–2 h 10 m

  • If arriving 3 May, allow for extra time due to Sunday schedules and possible traffic on the coast.

Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport (LJU) (Slovenia)
– Good alternative for some international flights; from Ljubljana you may take bus or train via border to Italy/Slovenia and then to Trieste (allow ~1.5–2 h plus transfer).

Treviso Airport (TSF)
– A low-cost alternative near Venice; from Treviso you can transfer to Venice or Mestre and then train/bus to Trieste (allow 2 h+).

Train or bus connections from those cities to Trieste, especially on Sunday, May 3rd

  • From Venice-area: direct trains from Venezia Mestre / Venezia S. Lucia to Trieste take around 2 h 05 m on average.

  • Buses from Venice Airport to Trieste run ~2 h.

  • From Trieste Airport: hourly train to Trieste central (~30 m). Bus ~50–60 m. Good reliability even on Sunday.

  • Tip for participants: Suggest arriving early in the day if possible to avoid late-day transfer challenges, especially on Sunday with fewer services.
